Actions
by Sheriff and local police to help Border Patrol are legal
The Center
for Immigration Studies has released an analysis
by Mr. Kris W. Kobach, a professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas
City School of Law , that provides the legal foundation for recent
actions by police in border communities to assist the Border
Patrol.
"In summary, it is clear that state and local police possess
substantial inherent authority to make immigration arrests...
It is also clear that the potential for closer cooperation with
state and local law enforcement has not been fully exploited....:"
