ASHCROFT SAYS WE MUST
IMPROVE OUR BORDER SECURITY

 Hijackers

TIM RUSSERT: At least nine hijackers were in the United Sates on valid visas. Three more were in the United States legally but stayed beyond their expiration, a top U.S. immigration official said yesterday. He said he is still mystified as to how the others got in.

How could that possibly be? Terrorists given a visa to enter the country, staying too long, and at least six others, simply sneaking into the country.

Ashcroft

ASHCROFT: Well, we have a responsibility to improve our security for those coming into the country. The president spoke in his campaign of reorganizing the Immigration and Naturalization Service. We have very frequently placed a lot of our resources along the southern border with Mexico and we have done a pretty good job of curtailing what had been an unrestrained flow there.

We do need to improve our border security.

Euphemism, anyone?
Please help me out on this. If an illegal alien is now a "undocumented worker" then would not a bank robber be a "unauthorized cash withdrawer", after all isn't he just seeking a better life?

With Friends Like Mexico, Who Needs Enemies?
Those Americans whose memory banks have not been totally erased by the horrors of Sept. 11 and its aftermath may recall that only a week before the terrorist attack, Vicente Fox was gallivanting north to badger President Bush for an amnesty for illegal Mexican aliens in the U.S. and even an actual union of the two nations. For obvious reasons, we haven't heard much out of Mr. Fox recently.

Porous Borders Raise Concerns
...U.S. authorities are still trying to pinpoint the movements of the 19 Sept. 11 hijackers before the attack, and it is unclear whether any traveled to and from Canada. But authorities have expressed concern about the openness of the U.S.-Canadian border, through which 248,855 people pass on an average day. Before Sept. 11, Canadian and U.S. citizens were not even required to show a photo ID to cross.

While Mexico patrols their borders....
Mexico states "we patrol our southern border for our national security and to protect our sovereignty". What??? When the United States attempts the same thing, we are nothing more than xenophobic- racist- Mexican- hating immigrant- bashers.

'Wake-Up Call' On Immigration
When U.S. authorities arrested Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman, mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, they made a chilling discovery -- he had slipped many times through loopholes and lapses in immigration policy as he plotted terrorism on American soil. -- That prompted Congress in 1996 to pass sweeping changes in immigration law, including two key anti-terrorism measures. After intense political pressure by various interest groups, however, neither measure was ever fully implemented....

Anti-immigration activists in N.C. switch to national- security issue
The Council of Conservative Citizens - which is the leading group in the fight for sane immigration policy here in North Carolina - has just announced that its next two anti-immigration rallies will have national security, rather than job loss, as their theme. Both will demand the borders be closed - and that all illegals be deported. -- This Saturday, CofCC will hold the first in these upcoming "national security rallies"; it will be in downtown Morganton.

The big Davis give-away (in-state tuition for criminals)
...With respect to "...preferences over Americans from Kansas (or any other state).." you might consider adding--"including US military now risking their lives to secure the liberty and well being of Gov. Davis and the illegal aliens he is dedicated to serve".

Drive-by Shooting on Long Island
The following is an account of by a neighbor whose kids were there with friends when the shootings occurred: The kids were skate boarding past the house when four Hispanic looking folks jumped out of their car and fired rounds of shotgun blasts into the house - through the area where the kids were standing! -- John, who lives close by in a trailer nearby came running out and got one of the shooters in a headlock until the police arrived ....in complete disregard of his own safety.....

Mexico, Fair-Weather Friend
In the days before Sept. 11, after Mexican President Vicente Fox had been feted at the first state dinner of the Bush White House, the United States was reorienting its foreign policy away from Europe toward Latin America. Using language normally reserved for Western European nations, President Bush pronounced Mexico America's new best friend. -- Then came the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and Bush's call for a global coalition to fight terrorism.
