Migration frustration
Dear Elected Officials: I have lived for nearly 70 years in these United States, and I have seen every scam, usury, and manipulation man can devise to achieve his political ends or her political ends by using a constituency in this country. (The his/her construction is ugly and has always struck me as a NOW invention to destroy the structure of the English language in favor of making little boys and little girls exactly alike.) -- There was a time when I would talk back and call for a moratorium against such abuse. -- Finally you wore me out, along with millions of other silent Americans.

Immigration issue faces complexities, Bush says
President Bush said today the high-level immigration talks between the United States and Mexico have developed into a complex series of negotiations that will take much more time to forge a compromise that could pass Congress. -- "This is an issue that is complicated not only by the relationship between America and Mexico. It's complicated by the fact that we've got immigrants from different countries. [Also on the Free Republic]

Re: Reconquista -- This land is our land!
I read with amusement the "column" written by this woman in the Salt Lake Tribune. So, some of her DNA matches that found in bones buried for "tens of thousands of years" under the sovereign territory of the United States of America.

Dominican Republic a Hotbed of Visa Fraud
The U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic experiences high incidences of fraud associated with visa applications, State Department officials said yesterday. "The U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo is considered a high- fraud post when it comes to visa applications, and that has always been the case," said an agency official speaking on the condition of anonymity. Because of that, the State Department has had an anti-fraud unit at the embassy for some time, the official said.

Mexico's New Envoy Energized By Fast-Changing Ties With U.S.
For generations, migration has been at the forefront of conflicts in U.S.-Mexico relations, but now the two countries are talking about amnesties and regularizing illegal workers. "We can have a close relationship, while both countries pursue their own national interest," Juan Jose Bremer observed. "The greatest enemy of change is prejudice and misperception as our countries transit from distant neighborhood to partnership." -- "There are times when this is business as usual and at times the gates open to let in floods of change," Bremer said with relish. "This is a never- ending story."

Reconquista: This land is our land!
Susan C. Carreon, writing in the Salt Lake Tribune, says that opponents of amnesty are ignorant of the true facts. Carreon writes " . . . we are an indigenous people residing in our ancestral homelands which are now occupied and controlled by the U.S. government." "We believe that we are the red-brown people from the red-brown Earth of the New World Land: This includes the entire Western Hemisphere."

English Only Policy Confirmed
A San Francisco Federal Court rejected yesterday a petition to modify a section of Proposition 227, which says that any parent or guardian could sue a teacher, administrator or members of the Board of Education if they don't teach English. -- "That is ridiculous, it is as if they took away a tool that we as teachers have to teach students who don't speak a word of English, commented Mister Kessler.....

An E-Mail from Walter Ewing
To an American Patrol supporter: I think that it is important to remember the history of the United States when thinking about immigration. We are a nation of immigrants. One hundred years ago, the Italians and Irish who came to the U.S. were viewed as separate *races* not as good as "natives" and were subject to the same prejudice and discrimination as many immigrants are today. But now, the Italians and Irish are considered *white* members of U.S. society and are widely credited with helping to build our nation.

...His background indicates he is a typical "global socialist" pawn of those who seek to incrementally inject our Nation with the cancer of "Tolerance for Global Socialism". In this case, it is through encouraging illegal immigration under the pretext the need for unskilled workers and the safety of these workers. --- Hinojosa- Ojeda is typical of the "Cultural- Marxists" that have been handed control of our Nation's education system by our Nation's Establishment Insider, Global- Socialist, social engineers.

Jury Selection Begins in Cher Case
Jury selection has begun in a lawsuit accusing Cher of firing an accountant for noting labor violations, including the hiring of illegal immigrants, during construction of the entertainer's Malibu mansion. Salvatore Sampino sued Cher in July 2000, alleging wrongful termination. He said he was fired in May 2000. "All I can say is the truth is the truth. I'll defend myself in there," Cher said before entering court Thursday. Cher and her attorneys have denied the accusations, saying Sampino wasn't fired but quit.

Fox and Bush have agenda cut out for them
Fox, guest of honor at Bush's first state visit in Washington, plans to spend Wednesday and Thursday with his fellow rancher and former border-state governor. The two men will lead Cabinet negotiations on immigration reform, border safety, drug interdiction and trade as they set their agendas for the next several years. And they will visit a Mexican- American community in Toledo, Ohio. -- "It's a very complicated negotiation - very entangled - with delicate political equations in the United States and in Mexico," Jorge Castaneda says.

Polls show low support for amnesty going into Fox-Bush meeting
Union and ethnic activists staged protests yesterday as part of an effort to pass an illegal alien amnesty. The protests come before next week's meeting between Mexican President Vicente Fox and President George W. Bush. Yesterday, FAIR released the results of a Harris poll about amnesty that show a majority of Americans oppose so-called legalization efforts and support more border enforcement. The results as similar to those of a USA-Today poll last weekend that found two-thirds of Americans oppose making it easier for illegal aliens to get citizenship.

Official says illegal alien ballplayer is 14
Little League star pitcher Danny Almonte is 14 years old, not 12, a Dominican official said Friday in a finding that could strip the Bronx team of its third- place finish in the World Series. A birth certificate suggesting the boy was 12 was not convincing, said Victor Romero of the government records office. -- Little League officials have said his immigration status did not affect his eligibility since all that is required is that a child be of age and that a parent or legal guardian live in the community he represents.

Minivans Hot Propery Along U.S.-Mexican Border
The couple lived in Southern California only a few months before they had what some view as a quintessential border experience: Someone stole their minivan. More specifically, someone stole their van to transport illegal immigrants from Mexico into the United States across the world's busiest border crossing. The minivan vanished after Trina Kleist parked the 1992 Plymouth Voyager outside a museum in Balboa Park. When she returned two hours later, it was gone.

Debate on immigration needed, Tancredo says
If the people of the United States want 40,000 immigrants a week, so be it, but there should be discussion first, U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo told about 50 people Thursday in a midafternoon forum in Rogers presented by state Sen. Gunner DeLay, a candidate for Congress. Tancredo is the leader of the Immigration Reform Caucus, made up of 17 members of Congress who want more discussion of U.S. immigration policy. DeLay's campaign flew Tancredo to Rogers. After Remarks on Migrants, an Apology from L.I. Legislator
A Suffolk County legislator's comment at a public hearing this week - that if his town were "attacked" by an influx of Hispanic day laborers, "we'll be out with baseball bats" - has touched off a storm of condemnations in this county, where two Mexican workers were beaten with construction tools last fall. -- The legislator, Michael M. D'Andre, a Republican of Smithtown, apologized today for the remark, but there were calls for his resignation from local immigrant advocates and criticism from top elected officials.

...The Baldwin Park Unified School District is hiring and has several clerical positions available. I took their tests and "aced" them. I have tremendous administrative assistant/office manager experience. However, of all the positions available, I was turned down on all of them for an interview. I called their HR Dept. to find out why, given the fact that I probably had more experience and skills than 98% of the applicants. The gentleman I spoke to told me it probably was because I wasn't "bi-lingual" (English/Spanish). (Read Glenn Spencer's remarks in the Daily Bruin, 1997)

The New Manifest Destiny
On April 21st, 1836, Sam Houston of the Texas Republic mounted a surprise attack on Mexican General and Dictator Santa Anna near Galveston Bay. Santa Anna was captured and forced to sign documents surrendering his army and recognizing the independence of the Republic of Texas. Thus ended an independence movement that had grown out of a careless immigration policy enacted a decade before. -- The immigration problem that Texas posed to the Mexican government in the 1830s is instructive to us today and serves as an excellent reminder of the central role of demographics in the maintenance of sovereign societies.
