Senator's Plan Has A Big Loophole!
|New York Times -- January 28
Senators Offer a New Blueprint for Immigration
A bipartisan group of senators has agreed on a set of principles for a sweeping overhaul of the immigration system, including a pathway to American citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants that would hinge on progress in securing the borders and ensuring that foreigners leave the country when their visas expire.
|This is the plan that must be followed! -- big file
The senators were able to reach a deal by incorporating the Democrats' insistence on a single comprehensive bill that would not deny eventual citizenship to illegal immigrants, with Republican demands that strong border and interior enforcement had to be clearly in place before Congress could consider legal status for illegal immigrants. [...]
Among the plan's new proposals is the creation of a commission of governors, law enforcement officials and community leaders from border states that would assess when border security measures had been completed.

My Plan is Honest --- Theirs Isn't
On Nov. 15, 2011 I spoke at the GovSecWest Government Security Conference and Expo in Phoenix, Arizona. The title of my presentation was "Grading Border Patrol Performance: Is developing a report card possible?" (See video)
I gave the paper again, with some refinements, at the Agricultural Media Summit in Albuquerque on Aug. 6, 2012. This time I called it "How to Solve the Border Problem." (Download the PowerPoint big file)
My plan calls for the creation of a joint federal-state mechanism to determine when border security has been achieved -- just as described in the NY Times story. However, the Senator's plan says the border will be secure only before granting citizenship -- not before legalization. The border must be secured BEFORE any legalization!

It was also reported that over 1½ tons of drugs were seized. About 192 packages weighing 2176 lbs. were found buried underground. The same day, soldiers found 142 packages inside a water tank weighing 1540 lbs.
Cost of giving illegals path to citizenship could outweigh fiscal benefits
Any immigration reform plan that allows the roughly 11 million individuals now in the United States illegally to stay in the country would bring with it a mix of new revenues and increased costs. And as President Obama and a bipartisan group of senators separately press the issue this week, past studies suggest it is doubtful that the fiscal benefits of such policy changes would outweigh the costs...

Congress to Unemployed Americans: 'Go to hell'
On the eve of President Obama's amnesty sale pitch in Las Vegas, members of Congress fell over themselves today (Jan. 28, 2013) to announce their "bipartisan" amnesty proposal that in reality is nothing more than a cheap copy of the failed 2007 amnesty. -- And, as expected, the Pavlovian Press pounced on it with the same enthusiasm we see from millions of "day after Christmas" shoppers...
Amnesty still amnesty, even if it's from GOP
An advocate for legal immigration, contending an unrestricted flow of illegal aliens into the U.S. isn't in the country's national interest, is blasting a GOP "amnesty" plan by Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla. -- As the White House presses for immigration "reform" that would create a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens, Rubio has begun introducing parts of his plan incrementally...

U.S. government allows naturalized terrorists and spies to keep citizenship
A bipartisan group of eight senators plans to announce on Monday that they agree on a set of principles for comprehensive immigration reform, according to Fox News Channel. While the deal covers border security, guest workers and employer verification, as well as a path to citizenship for the 11 million illegal immigrants already in this country, it doesn't address the threats posed by those who are naturalized...

Won't get fooled again
This latest iteration of the decade-old amnesty con contains the same old "back of the line" baloney as its predecessors. In other words, illegal [aliens] will supposedly not be able to cut ahead of those who didn't break the law. But, of course, that's nonsense, because the only line they might have to wait in is the line for an actual green card. They will receive nominally provisional immigration status as soon as they submit an application...

Shame on me
The plan offered by certain Senators to legalize illegal aliens is full of huge holes that they can drive amnesty through. "-- According to Reuters, "Under the group's proposal, undocumented immigrants would be allowed to register with the government, pay a fine, and then be given probationary legal status allowing them to work. [...] -- Under the plan, no one would be given more permanent legal status until new measures..."

U.S. Chamber of Commerce: Stupid and evil
What a combination. The Slave Power is at it again. The Chamber of Commerce wants more and more aliens available to drive down wages, which, at least for them makes some sense, not in the long term when all those workers of ethnicity start voting for more and higher taxes. -- Sooner or later the Chamber will be going Galt. -- But back to the stupid part. Just what does Thomas J. Donohue mean by this...

Special forces create new command to train Mexican troops
The Pentagon is stepping up aid for Mexico's bloody drug war with a new U.S.-based special operations headquarters to teach Mexican security forces how to hunt drug cartels the same way special operations teams hunt al-Qaida, according to documents and interviews with multiple U.S. officials. -- Such assistance could help newly elected Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto establish a military force to focus...
