Outdoor Channel Has Guts
"Crusader" to Tell the True Story About Spencer and ABP
American Patrol Report -- February 21
"Crusader" Glenn Spencer at the controls of ABP's Cessna TU-206
This Wednesday the Outdoor Channel's "Border Battles" will feature the work of Glenn Spencer and American Border Patrol, a non-governmental Arizona organization. The segment is called "The Crusader."
ABP has been demonstrating the use of high technology on the border for ten years, including the first use of unmanned aerial vehicles for border surveillance. In fact, it was ABP's use of UAVs that led the U.S. Border Patrol to begin using them.
In the promo for the show Spencer is seen flying ABP's Cessna TU-206. Spencer was the pilot for the aerial surveillance done under Operation B.E.E.F. -- the project to map and photograph the border fence.
More recently ABP has been testing a system to detect and count everyone who crosses the border illegally.
"From what I understand the Outdoor Channel is going to tell the real story behind American Border Patrol and I am very proud of them because they had the courage to ignore the lies of people like the Southern Poverty Law Center," Spencer said.
When first contacted by the show's producers Spencer told them they would be wasting their time because higher-up management would never allow the show to air. "I still couldn't believe it until I saw the promo video," he said.
