Reagan: Trust But Verify
Prove that the border is secure
Wall Street Journal -- December 1
 Newt Gingrich Signs Pledge to Build Border Fence
~~~ /// ~~~
    Des  Moines -- Newt Gingrich continued to shore up his right flank on immigration Thursday, signing a pledge to build a fence along the U.S. – Mexico border by the end of 2013 if he becomes president.
    The pledge follows comments he made earlier this week in South Carolina that were also intended to ease concerns among conservatives that Mr. Gingrich is not tough enough on immigration. Those concerns surfaced at a the most recent Republican primary debate during which Mr. Gingrich said he would like to find a path to legality for some of the roughly 11 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S.
    Mr. Gingrich said he has long supported a border fence, but added that when it comes to immigration "we have not been a serious country."
Red DotAmerican Patrol Report Comment
    Ronald Reagan said, "Trust, but verify." We trust that Gingrich signed a pledge, but we must verify that the border is secure before debating what to do with people who are in the country illegally.
'Republican party now the Gestapo party' says observer
The mainstream media doesn't want you to know about this story even though it is arguably the single most important story of the year in terms of impacting your future as a free citizen. Report: 63% of illegals have lived here for 10 years
Pew Hispanic has published a new report that provides interesting facts for the thoughtful reader. -- The graph posted here is nothing if not a testament to illegal aliens' ability to survive and thrive without a major amnesty in the 25 years since Reagan's 1986 IRCA. Newt is wrong it IS amnesty
Newt Gingrich and other pro-open-borders-mass-immigration-supporting talking heads have been making the case that Gingrich's proposal at the Republican debate on National Security is not amnesty. Wrong. It is an amnesty, a pardon for offences, "a general pardon... a deliberate overlooking of, as of an offense" according to my Webster's New World Dictionary College Edition cir. 1960. New World, indeed... [More from Rick Oltman]
Cronyism's last stand?
Curiously, there's an important Senate primary race in Indiana that some top conservative voices are ignoring. Paul Craig Roberts: Congress is repealing the Constitution
