Perry's Straw Man Fence
So who said all of Texas must be fenced?

Perry says no to border fence

As fencing went in at El Paso, apprehensions dropped. Click here to see where the fence is -- and isn't.

Rick Perry says no to a border fence. The Presidential hopeful told hundreds of people in New Hampshire he opposes a physical barrier between the US and Mexico, saying it would be ineffective and take too long to build.
He said, "1,200 miles from Brownsville to El Paso two things how long do you think it will take to build that, and then if you build a 30 foot wall from Brownsville to El Paso the 35 foot ladder business is real good, you got to have people on the ground."
The comments produced only one angry shout, exposing a long simmering clash with some conservative voters over Perry's immigration record.
He's been criticized for signing legislation that gave illegal immigrants in-state tuition at Texas universities.

The Secure Fence Act of 2006 called for construction of fencing from Del Rio to Eagle Pass (roughly 50 miles) and from Laredo to the Brownsville Port of Entry (roughly 200 miles). -- The rest of Texas could be handled by the Sonic Barrier and cameras. Perry has created a straw man. |

Arizona subversive group predicts civil war in U.S.
Over at Examiner.com, a writer by the name of Miguel Perez has an article entitled "Latino Group Claims Aztlán War in Next Five Years" (August 27th, 2011). Here's the whole article (it's just three paragraphs): Phoenix-based Nuestros Reconquistos claims that there will be a war very similar to the Civil War fought in the next five years... |

Radical union goon threatens Republicans at Obama soiree
Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa had some profane, combative words for Republicans while warming up the crowd for President Obama in Detroit, Michigan on Monday. --- "President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa added. -- Obama addressed the crowd shortly after Hoffa... |

Labor Day.... or Serf Day?
As I noted in 2008: A highly-regarded economist (Michael Hudson, Distinguished Research Professor at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, who has advised the U.S., Canadian, Mexican and Latvian governments as well as the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, and who is a former Wall Street economist at Chase Manhattan Bank who also helped establish the world's first sovereign debt fund) said... |

No jobs for Labor Day in Obama's America
The recent jobs report shows zero jobs created, net in August. -- California, the most immigration-affected state in the country, has record low unemployment, especially for women. -- Black unemployment is staggeringly high. Partly because blacks are less employable on average, partly because of the "shrinking public sector" -- Federal, state and local governments all hire a lot of African-Americans... |

New York State Police are now searching for Dagoberto Ruiz-Barrios, 40, after a grand jury indicted him on several child sexual assault charges last week for allegedly raping a 6-year-old girl. -- Ruiz-Barrios is facing charges of predatory sexual assault against a child, rape in the first degree and performing a criminal sexual act... |

Labor Day 2011: What are we celebrating? The lack of jobs in America?
If you still have a good job, you certainly have something to celebrate on Labor Day 2011. So far you have survived the decline of the U.S. economy. But your day may be coming soon. This weekend, there will be millions of Americans that will not be doing any celebrating. They are not enjoying a break from their jobs because they don't have any jobs... |

Dishonoring labor
Barack Hussein Obama could not have dishonored American labor any more than on August 29th just one week before the annual celebration of Labor Day. Obama's Labor Department stabbed the American worker in the back by declaring a halt to deportation of illegal alien workers and working with foreign governments to protect them... One and done?
One day during the 2008 campaign, as Barack Obama read the foreboding news of the mounting economic and military catastrophes that W. was bequeathing his successor, he dryly remarked to aides: "Maybe I should throw the game." -- On the razor's edge of another recession; blocked at every turn by Republicans determined to slice him up at any cost; starting an unexpectedly daunting re-election bid... |

Perry on Illegal Aliens: "Who, me? Worry?" -- Obama border czar agrees
Texas Governor Rick Perry has stated he had neither interest in adopting a tough Arizona-style immigration policy, nor building a fence to protect his 1200 mile border. Texas does have the Rio Grande, what trickle is left of it after irrigation and drought, in defense of his border de-fence position. The strangest of bedfellows, Alan Bersin --- Obama's Border Czar --- seems to agree! |

"Labor Day" should be renamed "Corporation Day" or "War Day"
It is Labor Day weekend, 2011, but labor has nothing to celebrate. The jobs that once gave American workers a stake in capitalism have left and gone away. Corporations in pursuit of near-term profits have moved labor's jobs to China, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, South Korea and Eastern Europe. -- Labor arbitrage, that is, the substitution of foreign labor that is paid less than its productivity for American labor... |

Border work key for BLM director
Jim Kenna's goals as director of the federal Bureau of Land Management in Arizona were clear: He wanted the agency to focus on sustainability, preserve the state's valuable national monuments and conservation areas, and engage with the community. -- But it was border security, an aspect of the agency's community emphasis, that has been the focus of public scrutiny and political controversy since Kenna assumed his post... |

Rep. Duncan Hunter supports border security... then amnesty
Note to self: Move Rep. Duncan Hunter from good guy category (voting grade A-) to interior sh#t list, along with Sen John McCain and others who think border security is merely a precursor on the short road to inevitable amnesty for millions of lawbreaking foreigners --- based on Hunter's recent Politico opinion piece extolling "comprehensive immigration reform..." |
