DHS says only 82 miles Arizona not fenced

This is what DHS says is Arizona border fencing.
|
Tomorrow the State of Arizona will kick off a campaign to raise money to build fencing along the border with Mexico. According to MSNBC, the Department of Homeland Security says only 82 miles remain unfenced between Arizona and Mexico.
American Border Patrol has been tracking the progress of border infrastructure for five years. Its last update of the Arizona / Mexico border was in March of this year.
DHS' claim that only 82 miles of border are not fenced is a lie. There are about 135 miles of vehicle barriers on the Arizona-Mexico border that DHS calls fencing. For the most part it is useless and can be crossed by a 2-year-old toddler. Much of the rest can be easily climbed by an adult.
I understand the challenges faced by Arizona. The costs of fencing are great and the decision as to where and what to build are not going to be easy. However, unlike the feds, I trust Arizona to be honest about the job and to tell the people the truth about the border as they go about dealing with the problem.
I say let's give them our support! |

President Obama is evidently feeling the pressure from the current shenanigans over a routine hike in the debt ceiling.
