Border Bullsh*t
El Paso Times -- Texas' Liars Club
American Patrol Report Commentary -- August 10
Today and tomorrow the University of Texas at El Paso will host a Border Security Conference. Speakers will include DHS Secretary Napolitano.
The El Paso Times reports: "All but a small part of the fencing [required by the Secure Fence Act of 2006] has been completed.
What absolute nonsense. As reported by American Border Patrol, most of what the DHS says if fencing is either useless vehicle barriers or fifteen-year-old airfield mat fencing that vehicles have driven over.
Even the Times reports "As of July 24, homeland security officials said, they had completed 634 miles of pedestrian fencing and vehicle barriers." And this isn't true either. Some of the fencing that DHS claims to have built was completed fifteen years ago.
"Had the El Paso Times taken the time it would have learned that Senator DeMint's amendment to the DHS appropriations bill called for completion of the 700 mile double-layered border fence, of which he said only 35 miles had been constructed," said Glenn Spencer of American Border Patrol.
Spencer said if the sponsors of the Border Security Conference wanted the truth they would have invited him to speak. "I hope people will contact conference attendees and ask them to log on to American Border Patrol and see for themselves what is really going on at the border," he added.
