Raising Red Flags
Napolitano Not Serious About Border Protection?
|Lou Dobbs Tonight -- CNN-- November 20
"You show me a 50-foot wall and I'll show you a 51-foot ladder at the border. That's the way the border works."
Casey Wian: Back home, Napolitano has a mixed record on border security and illegal immigration. She first opposed Proposition 200, a 2004 Arizona initiative, requiring proof of citizenship to vote and denying illegal aliens some state social services. After it passed, she fought for implementation of only part of the law.
Randy Pullen, Arizona Republican Party Chairman: She was opposed to that initiative, so I think that she only has enforced or been with enforcing the law when it was to her benefit. Otherwise, she's kind of had a problem with enforcing the law across the board.
New York Times-- November 20
"I am trying to find a 51-foot ladder for her," said J. D. Hayworth, a former Republican congressman from Arizona who now hosts a radio talk show. "I don't think very many illegal aliens would be running around with 51-foot ladders. She has been playing both sides and does not bring a seriousness of purpose to the issue." More here.....
