concern over illegal immigration
As the Hispanic presence
becomes more widely felt, Republican presidential candidates
are finding fertile territory for their hard-line policies against
illegal immigration.
When Fred Thompson, one of the Republican
hopefuls, held a campaign rally in Sioux City this week, the
loudest applause was reserved for his promise to build a fence
along the border with Mexico.
"How long has it been since we put
a man on the moon? Yet we cannot secure our own border,"
he said, addressing a 150-strong, all-white audience.
"This is our home. And we collectively
get to decide who comes into our home." |

Solving
illegal immigration for dummies
The President, both houses of Congress,
the candidates, and the American people have been debating for
quite some time on how to handle the immigration issue. And by
"immigration issue," what is meant is the growing problem
that America faces with illegal immigrants pouring over the southern
border with Mexico. |

Just

Nothing in recent memory has riled landlords
- some of them anyway - like state Rep. Randy Terrill's intention
to write a law giving authorities the power to seize property
where illegal residents live. -- That's next, among other things,
in "son of House Bill 1804," Terrill's planned follow-up
to the strict illegal immigration law that went into effect Nov.
