Barnett, who was the target of an attack on an American Patrol rally on July 4, 2000, had apprehended more than 10,000 trespassers without being charged with a crime, was found guilty in a civil trial and ordered to pay trespassers $98,000. "This sounds like a a set-up," said Glenn Spencer of American Patrol. "Isn't it strange that suddenly armed Mexican- Americans show up after Barnett has apprehended 10,000 illegal aliens."
"There are some strange rumors going around about this outrage," he added.
