Bush's
Final Chance for Redemption
Sierra Vista, AZ
-- American Border
Patrol, the non-profit border watchdog group, is launching
a major effort to assess progress of the Bush Administration
in controlling the Arizona/Mexico border. Pegged "October
Surmise," the project will involve the use of high tech
gear, including the Border Hawk UAV, ground sensors and infrared
cameras. According to Glenn Spencer, head of ABP, the media are
already responding. "HDNet is just finishing its work and
major network affiliate will be here Tuesday," Spencer said.
"On October 25 we are going to render our opinion as to
whether the Bush Administration is serious about controlling
the border, or whether its efforts are nothing more than a hoax."
"This president has one final chance for redemption,"
Spencer added.
Spencer said tax deductible
donations are greatly appreciated. |

Border
War in Arizona (Prop. 200 hugely popular)
Proposition 200, an Arizona ballot initiative
aimed at illegal immigrants, would seem to have little going
for it. Virtually the entire political, business and religious
establishment of the state - including Democratic Governor Janet Napolitano,
Republican Senator John
McCain and the state's three Catholic bishops - is lined
up against it. |

Police:
Immigration crackdown has reduced violent gang crime
Charlotte, N.C. (AP) -- A yearlong crackdown
on immigration violations has led to a drop in gang-related violence
in the Charlotte area, according to police. -- More than 100
members of Charlotte street gangs have been arrested on immigration
violations in the last 16 months. Most of those who were later
deported are members of Mara Salvatrucha 13, a traditionally
Salvadoran gang considered just a year ago to be the city's most
violent. |

disown RINO Dreier's opposition candidate
This news is from last week, but seems
not to have gotten any notice. Cynthia
Matthews, Republican Congressman David
Dreier's Democrat opponent in the race for California's 26th
Congressional District, has been officially disowned by her own
party over the illegal immigrant issue. Matthews has been outspoken
opposed to illegal immigration and the corporations who hire
them (she wants laws against hiring enforced), and reported on
the John and Ken radio talk

Prop.
200 supporters: Not all bigots, just grappling with change
I am the voice of a voter who supports Proposition
200. -- It's not an anti-immigrant thing, as columnists like
Jon Talton say. My friends and I come from immigrant stock. But
those immigrants came legally. -- I'm not a bigot. There may
be bigots who support it, but they aren't the majority. |

Reservoirs Recede, Fears of a Water Shortage Rise
Page, Ariz. - Behind Glen Canyon Dam
spreads a vista reincarnated. One of the West's mightiest reservoirs
is in steady retreat, the deep turquoise of its waters replaced

-- Five years of record-breaking drought in the Colorado River

Flows
on the Colorado are among the lowest in 500 years. |

Is Sailing Toward a Crisis on Immigration
I am a native Angeleno who was born in
this city more than 50 years ago and has lived here ever since.
Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand the effects of unchecked
illegal immigration in California and can no longer remain silent
on this issue. I believe we need to start enforcing our immigration
laws to limit the number of people coming into the state... |
