Budget is Big Concern for "Hispanic Colleges"
It's not on any of the agendas, but the
state's budget crisis and its impact on Latino students is likely
to be the hottest topic at the Hispanic Association of Colleges
and Universities annual conference, which opened Saturday at
the Hyatt Regency Orange County. [Hispanic Colleges?] |

Workers Filling U.S. Jobs
Some two million U.S. jobs have gone
by the wayside over the last two years. And at the same time,
the number of foreigners granted special visas to work in the
U.S. has risen. -- Employers defend the practice. But pink-slipped
Americans who've lost jobs to lower-paid replacements are calling
it visa abuse. [Contact Bush]

Coconuts
The very name "coconut", some minorities
use to describe a person who is black or brown on the outside
but white on the inside, is very indicative of the root cause
of their relative lack of success in America. If you hold against
someone that he/she "acts white" then you really cannot
expect to go very far in this meritocratical society that tends
to reward success and punish failure...

-- Tetchy immigration minister Beverley Hughes then admitted
it is impossible for every illegal immigrant to be locked up.
