in San Diego are participating in a binational effort this week
to promote health among Latinos [read: Mexicans]. -- Organizers

Health Week, which ends Sunday.  |

The Street administration has told city
workers not to report "mere undocumented aliens" to
federal agents or deny immigrants any services such as health
care or education. -- City Solicitor Nelson A. Diaz, in a memorandum
dated Oct. 10, puts Philadelphia among a handful of cities -
including New York - that formally refuse to help the federal
government pursue ordinary illegal immigrants.  |

from Cochise County took 11 Brazilian illegals to the Border
Patrol facility in Tucson recently. When he delivered the invaders,
he remarked [paraphrased], "Here are 11 more for you to
turn loose". He was told that the Border Patrol wasn't doing
that anymore, and they were just releasing illegal Central Americans. |

A man who wrote a letter to police accusing
an acquaintance of plotting to blow up the Ben Franklin Bridge
has been charged with making a false report to authorities. --
Pedro Garcia-Martinez, of Camden, was arrested Thursday. -- If
convicted, it is likely that Garcia-Martinez, who is from Mexico,
will be deported.  |

on a routine patrol near Briar Canal about four miles east of
here Tuesday. -- No agents were harmed and no damage was caused

clients to the system. "Although part of the 2002 farm bill,
the provision to restore food stamps to poor immigrant children

immigration offices demanded the release Wednesday of Haitian
refugee Ernesto Joseph. -- Joseph won a 30-day reprieve from
deportation Oct. 2 after his attorneys submitted evidence he
is 16, and U.S. congressional representatives asked officials
to let him press for relief in juvenile court.  |
