When an alien crosses our border, is apprehended and immediately sent back to Mexico, they call it a Voluntary Return (V.R.). Using the new Ident system, it takes agents about five minutes to do the paperwork necessary for a V.R. If an alien is to go through the courts to be formally deported, it takes the agent 1-2 hours to complete the paperwork.
According to a recently retired Border Patrol agent, in Brownsville, Texas, the policy is to formally deport aliens after 12 illegal entries and V.R.'s. In reality, he said, illegal aliens may be V.R.'d 20-30 times before they are formally deported. Even then, aliens are given 2 Formal Deportation hearings before facing a sentence of 1 year in jail after re-entry.
Thus, the alien may enter the United States illegally up to 60 times before facing any jail time.
The retired agent blames laziness on the part of agents for failure to go for formal deportations, but clearly the laws and procedures they are given make it easy for the alien to escape prosecution.
How many more Americans are going to be killed by illegal aliens before our government gets serious about protecting our borders? When will Americans demand action?
