Re: Don't Make the Police an Arm of the INS
Commentary - L.A. Times - 12/16/0112/16/01
In an article, "Don't Make the Police an Arm of the INS," authors Randy Jurado Ertll and Marvin Andrade, list dozens of reasons why the police should not assist immigration officials to round up the 300,000 illegal aliens who have been ordered deported by an immigration judge. One reason given is the fact that most have been found to have committed minor "administrative violation."
Excuse me! Ducking an order of a federal judge is a serious offense. They also state that many of the 9/11 terrorists entered the U.S. legally. Not true: the fact that they were engaged in a conspiracy to commit a terrorist act is a serious federal felony. Overstaying a visa is also a felony. Failure to live up to the terms of a student visa is a felony. Failure to abide by our immigration laws, led to the worst terrorist act ever committed in America. Apologists like Ertll and Andrade make a mockery of these laws, which should be a protection for all Americans.
