Again the Police Look the
Other way
May 26, 2005 -- According to an eyewitness
to the meeting in Garden Grove honoring Jim Gilchrist (May 25),
despite having overwhelming resources on site from the very beginning,
police allowed demonstrators to occupy Gilbert Ave and block
the only exit available to Americans attending the meeting. This
led to a confrontation between Americans and the invaders.
In addition, the windshield of a car
in the parking lot was damaged during the meeting. Some say the
only way this could have happened would have been by a protester
entering the lot and striking the windshield, or a heavy object
being thrown into the parking lot from the crowd of demonstrators.
In either case, the aggressive action would have been observed
by police. This threat of bodily harm should have been enough
for the police to disperse the demonstrators. |
