- June 5, 2003: Illegal alien shot dead by Border Patrol officer
1.5 miles east of Douglas, Arizona after the subject attacked
the agent by throwing rocks. [See
Arizona Daily Star article]
- November 2002: A Border Patrol agent shoots an illegal immigrant,
Salvador Mendoza Flores, in the buttocks. Patrol officials say
people near Flores threw rocks at the agent. Flores survives.
The agent is cleared.
- January 2002: Arturo Rosas Carmona, 23, is shot by a Border
Patrol agent in Douglas, reportedly while climbing the fence
back into Mexico after people in Mexico threw rocks at the agent.
Carmona survived. The agent's fate couldn't be determined.
- November 1999: A Border Patrol supervisor, Dan Hann, shoots
and kills an unarmed marijuana smuggler in Nogales. Hann is not
prosecuted because the Santa Cruz County attorney finds the shooting
is justified because the supposed smuggler, David Maldonado Quijada,
28, of Nogales, Son., was threatening a second agent with a large
rock.
- September 1998: Antonio Renteria, a 23-year-old farmworker
from Michoacán who illegally crossed the border, is shot
and killed in San Luis, south of Yuma, by an agent after threatening
him with a rock. The agent's fate couldn't be determined.
- June 1997: Efrain Quinto Alcantar, 32, of Michoacán
is shot by Border Patrol for allegedly throwing rocks at an agent
in Douglas. He survives, The agent's fate couldn't be determined.
- August 1996: Miguel Felix Perez, 48, of Guaymas, Son., is
shot near Douglas for allegedly throwing a rock at an agent.
He survives, The agent's fate couldn't be determined.
