Re: New urgency for immigration reform
S.D Union Tribune / Patrick Osio, Jr. - 10/23/01I agree with Patrick Oslo, Jr. when he states, "New urgency for immigration reform," but I cannot agree that "...the Border Patrol can protect our borders with Mexico and Canada from those intent on destroying our country, not by chasing people who need jobs."
How can they determine the difference without stopping them? Besides, both are breaking the law by entering the country illegally. We may be a land of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. There is no excuse to allow lawlessness, which sets a bad example for those who seek to come to America by legal means.
