The Tucson Citizen - February 13, 2003 Grijalva has questionable record ...Let's examine Raúl Grijalva's recent actions. Even before taking the oath of office he proudly proclaimed that the most important things were not the needs of his constituents, but the illegal aliens crossing in southern Arizona. -- He is ignoring the federal government's failure to control our borders. It is only natural for the citizens to defend their lands from these trespassers. -- I'm sure they are armed to protect their families from being shot at by drug and people smugglers. None of us can hold our breath, waiting for the federal government to do anything besides issue public relations doublespeak...... |

TV [Short-lived
link]- February 8, 2003 Grijalva goes right to work on behalf of Mexicans ...Arizona's newest Congressman Raul Grijalva is trying to end that. His very first piece of legislation introduced in Congress would grant more than 8,400 tribal members [Mexican nationals by law] U.S. citizenship. "If we can keep it from getting mixed up in immigration or homeland security, we might get it passed" he says. "If we can get a hearing I think we have a good chance." -- They can't prove they're American citizens even though they were born in the United States. They were born on the reservation, but have no documents to prove it.... |

The Tucson Citizen (Scroll Down) - February 8, 2003 Grijalva refuses to accept e-mail I just discovered something about the way the Honorable Raúl M. Grijalva, D-Tucson, conducts the business of being one of our United States representatives. -- Unfortunately, Rep. Grijalva is one of a small number of House members who refuse to receive e-mail from the people who elected him or her to office. I sure didn't expect that to happen. -- Just maybe it really is true that Grijalva is out of touch with his constituents in Arizona. [Also: Reader demands Grijalva's 'scofflaw' daughter be fired from her job with the Pima Co. teen court (scroll down).] |

- February 7, 2003 Grijalva will offer Tohono O'odham citizenship bill ...The Tohono O'odham Citizenship Act would grant citizenship to about 8,400 tribal members not recognized as U.S. citizens [because they live in Mexico]. Originally introduced last year, the bill was supported by 122 members of the House of Representatives from 40 states. But it never made it through the subcommittee that handles immigration because the session was consumed by the creation of the Homeland Security Department. -- Grijalva said the bill will go through this time. |

- February 6 2003 Ariz. lawmakers seek number of illegals seeking medical care Several Arizona lawmakers want to know how many foreigners, legal and illegal, are using local hospitals. -- The request comes at a time when border states are clamoring for federal dollars to reduce costs related to illegal immigration. In Arizona, the need is urgent because of next year's projected $1 billion budget deficit. -- All six of Arizona's House Republicans and its two GOP senators, Jon Kyl and John McCain, signed the letter. Democratic Rep. Ed Pastor of Phoenix and Rep. Raul Grijalva of Tucson [both illegal alien cheerleaders] declined to sign it. |

LTE - January 28, 2003 Why does Grijalva keep showing up where there are Commies? In the words of Dr. Phil, U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva "didn't get it then and still does not get it!" The peace movement in the '60s and '70s was destructive to many thousands of veterans and their families. -- To this day many vets have not been able to get past the negative impact the peace rallies had on their lives when they returned from war. A simple thank-you would have made a world of difference. -- And -- Just for the record, one of the sponsors of the anti-war rally was The Tucson Club for the Communist Party. Why is it that Grijalva and the Communist Party keep showing up at the same events? I did not vote for him. |

- January 27, 2003 Callers split on intruders, civilian patrols [and congressMechista Grijalva] Grijalva should represent U.S. -- I would hope that Raúl Grijalva remembers he represents District 7 in Arizona for the United States and stop his race baiting, or many of us who did vote for him may find it to our regret and never vote for him again. -- He represents the United States. We need to prevent illegal immigrants, and we need to prevent druggies and smugglers from coming across the border. Grijalva needs to back off and leave people who are trying to defend our nation alone. |

The Sierra Times - January 20, 2003 Former U.S. Border Patrol Agent Speaks Out ...Now we have a new reconquista Congressman Raul Grijalva whose concerns and loyalty are to the Mexican Government and goals, and believes U.S. Citizens in high risk border areas should be investigated as Racists, Hate Groups when they take up arms for their own safety as well as their neighbor's. --And-- Arizona is a "right to carry" weapons state, with many people possessing Concealed Weapons permits. If the government will not protect taxpayers, property owners from constant invasions from Mexico, citizens must rely on their own resources.... |

Is
Google.com playing politics? -
January 19, 2003 We have been following the activities of Mechista Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.) for months, and maintain this web page to chronicle what this questionable character is up to. Doing a Google search for "Raul Grijalva" usually brings up a link to our page a couple of listings down from the top. All of a sudden this link has disappeared from near the top of the list at Google. We find this to be very interesting. The people of Arizona should know just what they have sent to Washington to represent them. (Note... the link in question is still in the Google database, but isn't nearly as prominent or as easy to find as it has been for some time.) |

-- Tucson -- January 17, 2003 CongressMechista waits for response on call for investigation Congressman Raul Grijalva says he's still waiting for a response from Attorney General John Ashcroft on border militias. Grijalva called for an investigation into the groups shortly after he was sworn in as the U.S. congressman from District Seven. -- He's concerned border militias will lead to hate crimes against immigrants [read: illegal aliens]. -- He also says he won't support a guest worker program for immigrants unless it's part of a comprehensive border policy. |

- Dorothy Anne Seese -- January 17, 2003 Our Ship Of State Is A Submarine That Torpedoes US Citizens ...Raul Grijalva is off to a grand start, reinforcing the idea that Mexico has rights in this nation in spite of the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo and the Gadsden Purchase. After all, so we paid for some land? That gives us and our people a right to use it? The Aztlan advocate (in thought if not in overt deed) Grijalva has already made his stance known. With regard to the critical nature of our border disputes, his loyalties to Mexico clearly stand out as he said: "An atmosphere exists in southern Arizona that threatens to ignite in a flashpoint of violence. The words and actions of these groups are evidence of an armed racial movement intent on taking the law into their own hands....." |

Herald Editorial - January 16, 2003 Grijalva needs to shift focus Less than two hours after being sworn in last week as a U.S. congressman, former Pima County Supervisor Raul Grijalva called for a federal investigation into the "atmosphere of fear" that he believes is created by armed citizen patrols on the border. -- And this week he invited U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft to come to Southern Arizona regarding citizen groups patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border. -- While we agree armed patrols aren't the answer to solving our border problems, we don't believe the congressman's call for an investigation will help the situation. |

Daily Star Border Edition -- January 14, 2003 CongressMechista Grijalva invites Ashcroft to border U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva stepped up his campaign to crack down on vigilantes Monday by inviting Attorney General John Ashcroft to come to Southern Arizona to see the threat they pose to border security. -- The Tucson Democrat told Ashcroft in a letter that the federal government's silence on the issue is "seen as giving official sanction to this racist movement, both by the perpetrators and victims of vigilante 'justice.' Daily Star-- Tucson Citizen -- January 13, 2003 Raul Grijalva is an embarrassment Raul Grijalva shows himself to be, at first opportunity, a man with little or no intellect and no shame, who chooses not to represent Arizona and the United States, but the illegal immigrants who are a plague, a threat and a burden to our state as well as our country. -- The fear on the border comes not from good citizens who are trying to do what our government has failed to do - secure our borders - but from the invasion into, and on, the land, homes and rights of those who live in proximity to Mexico. - January 11, 2003 Who does this 'craven traitor' Raul Grijalva think he's working for? ...As his first official act, the newly sworn-in Grijalva sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney's Office, calling for federal authorities to investigate what Grijalva termed "vigilante" groups patrolling the border between the United States and Mexico. In his letter, Grijalva libeled the good names of citizen patrol leaders Chris Simcox, Jack Foote and the men and women patrolling the border with them as racists, and blamed them for creating an "atmosphere of fear" on the border. -- Oh yeah? Whose fear? The border ranchers writing to me all say that the presence of these citizen patrols has finally allowed them to sleep at night. |

The Arizona Republic - January 8, 2003
Mechista congressman sworn in, immediately goes after Americans... not the invaders
In his first official action as a new member of Congress, Rep. Raul Grijalva called on federal authorities to investigate vigilante groups in southern Arizona, warning that the groups have created "an atmosphere of fear" along the U.S.-Mexican border. -- Grijalva sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Phoenix urging action against the vigilante groups. -- "We cannot allow the complex issues involved in U.S.-Mexican border policy to be hijacked by individuals who have chosen to break faith with our government and take matters into their own hands." [Grijalva is a crony of 'Mexican government agent' Isabel Garcia].

Liberal Grijalva a Cheerleader for Mexican Invader Amnesty
From the Tucson Citizen - November 6, 2002 --- "One of the most significant disagreements between them is on immigration reform. Grijalva supports amnesty for illegal immigrants similar to the one granted by President Reagan in 1986. Kolbe wants a guest-worker program that would require people to return to their home countries before enrolling."
From the Arizona Daily Star's "Decision 2002" interview page Q. What course of action do you propose to address illegal immigration?
Grijalva: "Immigration is a very complex issue, and to ignore the issue is the worst mistake this country could make. Simply talking about enforcement, closing down the border, preventing people from coming here, has not worked, is not working, will not work. You can tell that by the record number of people who have died in the Tucson/Yuma sector of the border this year." MoreQ. What should U.S. foreign policy toward Mexico be?
Grijalva: "The U.S. policy toward Mexico should be a full and equal partnership. From this foundation, we can create true economic development, and protect the mutual interests of both countries. The public policy interest of both countries will never evolve absent consistent and active governmental participation and leadership." -- MoreView the Immigration Profile of Reconquista Rep.
