Union-Tribune -- May 7, 2004 8 arraigned in invader smuggling case after vans crash border Eight people have been arraigned in federal court on charges of transporting dozens of illegal immigrants in three vans that crashed through a U.S. border gate Monday night. -- A total of 84 people were detained near the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, where one of the vans got stuck, and near Temecula, where Border Patrol agents tracked the rest of the group, U.S. authorities said.  |
