Re: Request for investigation by the Border Alliance Network

Dear Sir:

I join with Mr. Richard Humphries (see letter below) in offering myself as a subject for investigation because of my affiliation with the American Border Patrol organization of Sierra Vista, Arizona.  My crime, if there is one, relates to my belief in the rule of law upon which this government was founded.  Along with most Americans, I believe that illegal immigration to this country, along with its attendant problems, is the most under-reported national scandal in the history of this Republic. Equally scandalous is the federal government's consistent refusal to stem the flow of illegal aliens into the United States, and to remove those millions already here.  That is its responsibility to the American people and, in this regard, it has failed them miserably.

I am proud of my affiliation with American Border Patrol.  I commend Glenn Spencer and those who work with him for calling the illegal immigration problem to the attention of the American public.

To assist you in your investigation, if you wish to conduct one, I submit my following personal background:  I have never been arrested.  I am not a vigilante.  I served honorably twice in our nation's armed forces. I served twenty seven years in the U. S. Border Patrol, retiring as a chief patrol agent.  Following a very brief retirement I served another five years as the INS Western Regional Director of the 1986 Amnesty Program.  Among the many awards and commendations I received were the Commissioner's Distinguished Career Award, an Attorney General's Award, and recommendations by the Department of Justice for the Federal Executive of the Year Award, and the Congressional Xcaliber Award.  There were many others.

While I will willing submit to an investigation of my background, I wonder how well members of the Border Alliance Network would stand in a similar investigation of their individual backgrounds? Perhaps you would care to investigate the members of both organizations?

Sincerely,

William S. (Bill) King, Jr.
