Letter to the Editor
The Orange County Register

Surely Steven Greenhut (Commentary, December 16) knows the difference between immigrants and illegal aliens. And surely he knows the difference between immigration and illegal immigration. He said so in his article.

Why, then, did he refer to those who held the "Defense of America" rally in Anaheim on December 8 as "an anti-immigration group" when they were clearly anti-illegal immigration groups? The difference is enormous. Is it because of a libertarian open borders position?

Mr. Greenhut has been well aware of the activities of Voice of Citizens Together/American Patrol and The California Coalition for Immigration Reform opposing illegal immigration for many years. And, after all, a senior editorial writer is skilled at fact-checking. Could it have been a slip of the pen? Could it be that he would purposely misrepresent?

As for his praise of Michael Barone's book, The New Americans, Mr. Greenhut would do well to read Steve Sailer's review. All he has to do is to go to www.isteve.com.
