Subject: City Council Lauds Mexican Consul-General for MatriculasA fellow activist friend of mine went down to City Hall last week to address the City Council.
One of the featured presentations (not an Agenda item) was giving a certificate of appreciation to Mexican Consul-General Lara, who is leaving L.A. for San Antonio. The Council spoke glowingly of her efforts to institute the Matricula program which allowed immigrants to open bank accounts. Among those speaking on her behalf were Cardenas, Parks, Villaraigosa and a few others. They cited her efforts in L.A. which have been copied in other cities around the US, most recently Miami, Florida. Mayor Hahn was there, too, and kissed Ms. Lara on both cheeks. He's such a dreamboat!
Before the meeting got underway, Dennis Zine wandered into the audience to meet some buddies there. The first few rows of the Council seats were reserved by strips of Scotch tape across the aisleway. Zine saw the tape and with a big "karate chop" zapped it off.
My friend scolded me. He said as the founder of ZineWatch, "I thought you were supposed to be watching him."
My friend asked me: Is there also a HahnWatch to make sure the Mayor isn't going around kissing everyone on the cheeks? He was afraid to get near him.Well, maybe I'll make a ClownWatch site.
