Re: The Mexican War

I recently saw a History Channel presentation on the Mexican War. As we all know the Americans controlled territory as far south as, and including Mexico City. But then they decided to yield to the current border instead of keeping all the territory the Mexican's lost. The reason (speculation) the History Channel stated was a cultural incompatibility between the conquered Mexican's and the Americans. Does anybody agree, disagree, or have different info on why the Americans did not keep Mexico City? Arguably, we could take back what is ours, but we probably still don't want it.
