Guess Where Villaraigosa Got His $1.6 Million?
By Walter Moore

Villaraigosa has raised $1.6 million for his re-election campaign. Guess how much came from people who actually live in the City of Los Angeles? The correct answer is: approximately 37%.
Just over $1 million came from outside the city, and about $595,000 from people in the City of Los Angeles.
People who live outside the city -- and, indeed, outside the state -- are apparently more devoted to re-electing him than those of us who actually live here. Here are a few particulars for you:
New York: $132,926.87
Illinois: $89,950
Florida: $32,000
New Jersey: $24,500
Sacramento: $19,500
San Francisco: $33,100
Beverly Hills: $136,250
Do you really believe those people are contributing to Villaraigosa's campaign because they care about your quality of life? Or do you think instead the million dollars from out of town is a quid pro quo for a piece of the City's $7 billion per year budget?
If you care about the City of Los Angeles, help me fight back. We don't have to match Villaraigosa's special interest contributors dollar-for-dollar. But the closer we get, the better the odds. Right now, he's raised about $13 for every dollar we've raised. Let's even that up, shall we? And don't forget: there are plenty of ways you, your friends, neigbhors and co-workers can help without spending money.>
Thanks for your support. I truly appreciate it. We can fix this city. We just have to take action.
