SUBJECT: RON PAUL

Regarding your recent email about Ron Paul's true positions on illegal immigration, I offer the following:

BORDER PROTECTION

Ron Paul voted for and touted the Secure Fence Act of 2006.

"The problems associated with illegal immigration cannot be addresses unless and until we gain physical control of our borders and coastlines,"

AMNESTY

About Amnesty, he said

"The reality is that this bill will grant amnesty to virtually all of the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens in the country today. Supporters use very creative language to try and convince us that amnesty is not really amnesty, but when individuals who have entered the United States illegally are granted citizenship - regardless of the fees they are charged - what you have is amnesty."

He truly is opposed to amnesty.

BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP

He said

"I've introduced legislation that would amend the Constitution and end automatic birthright citizenship. The 14th amendment was ratified in 1868, on the heels of the Civil War. The country, especially the western territories, was wide open and ripe for homesteading. There was no welfare state to exploit, and the modern problems associated with immigration could not have been imagined."

And he is right on other issues....

"FREE TRADE"
American Independence and Sovereignty

"So called free trade deals and world governmental organizations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), NAFTA, GATT, WTO, and CAFTA are a threat to our independence as a nation. They transfer power from our government to unelected foreign elites."

He also said

"The SPP was agreed by the president without the participation of Congress. It should be eliminated, not accelerated!"w

IRAQ
Before the war started, Ron Paul opposed it.

"The wisdom of the war is one issue, but the process and the philosophy behind our foreign policy are important issues as well. But I have come to the conclusion that I see no threat to our national security. There is no convincing evidence that Iraq is capable of threatening the security of this country, and, therefore, very little reason, if any, to pursue a war."

So did I.
From the Heartland, Feb. 1 2003
Glenn Spencer: "Now let's understand something. We're fighting, possibly, a war, half way around the world against Iraq. Iraq is not a direct threat to us. But a recent poll showed that a vast majority of Mexicans believe the Southwest belongs to them."

He has also said that the war in Iraq was brought to us by neocons and that we should not shed any more American blood and treasure trying to fix something that a small group of idiots broke.

We should get out of Iraq right now. If this means a disruption in our oil supply, and I really don't think it will, then let's put the nation on a "war footing" and end our dependence on Arab Oil. Let them drown in their oil. Americans would go for that.

KNIT PICKING

We can go back and knit-pick every vote, but let us understand that in the past year many, including those in Congress, learned a great deal about illegal immigration and how the American people feel about it.

Ron Paul has taken very clear stands on illegal immigration, border security (that means building a fence), amnesty, and anchor babies. He was right about Iraq when most everyone else in Congress was wrong.

Finally, can you imagine a race between Hillary Clinton and Ron Paul with a full airing of the issues on national television? He would bury her.
