MEXICAN PROGRAM DESIGNED FOR MEXICANS IN AMERICA
According to
Bi-Weekly News Brief No. 23 dated April 1-15, 1996, the Mexican
government has begun broadcasting a new radio soap opera "YOU
ARE A DREAM."
Produced by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs,"YOU
ARE A DREAM," is designed to "refresh the existing bond
between Mexicans and Chicanos, as well as to provide an optimistic
message for undocumented workers in the U.S. "
According to the show's writer, Carlos Morton, "My goal for
this radio soap opera looks forward to help Mexicans not be apolitical,
so they get organized into a real community, because it
is the only way to fight racism."
VCT COMMENT:
There you have it.
By its own admission the Mexican government is sending radio broadcasts
into the United States designed to organize Mexicans (legal or
otherwise) into a political force to fight "racism."
To many Mexicans, racism is another word for "Gringo."
The producer, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is the
same governmental agency which recently threatened U.S. Secretary
of State, Warren Christopher, with a
"confrontation" over the treatment of illegal aliens.
