[Letter not published in the Register.]10/21/01
Why does the Register refuse to print anything about the actions of the Latino activists in Anaheim and elsewhere? I have witnessed vicious name-calling and verbal threats made by these people to public officials. I have sent seven letters to the Register regarding these incidents. Yet you continue to pound the police department with the baseless accusations made by these activists. The friction in Anaheim is about nothing more than the INS officer in the Anaheim jail. His presence is an undeniable success, and the Latino activists want him out. We should put an INS officer in every jail in the county.
If the activists are threatening to commit acts of public and civil disobedience, should that not be considered a terrorist threat these days?
In my 40 years here, I have seen a slow but steady deterioration of our schools, social programs, and neighborhoods, and uncontrolled immigration is the reason. Can you remember a time in this county when you could leave your front door unlocked at night, or your keys in the car at the mall, or take a walk at night? I do, and it hasn't been that long.
