Letter to the Editor - Washington Times (Not Published)

5/21/05

Mexican President Vicente Fox just made the wrong apology. He should apologize to the American people for allowing millions of illegal immigrants to cross our border and not do anything about it. He must inform the American citizens what he will do to stop this crisis on our borders. Illegals are costing the American taxpayer over $100 billion a year.

I personally think that Fox's remarks were insensitive; however, he was saying that Latinos want to work and a guest worker program is needed. Both President Fox and Jesse Jackson are focusing on the wrong issue and message. Jesse Jackson only wants to reach out to Fox because of potential Hispanic votes for the Democrat Party and personal media attention.

I would like to see President Fox "reach out" and stop illegals crossing our borders. It is not about workers rights or expressing regret for stupid comments, it is about U.S. rule of law and protecting the rights of American citizens. Once again, political correctness and trying to obtain votes takes priority over our national security.
