Trouble in the Bronx

I am an African American who lives in the Bronx, a New York City borough, or county, with 1.3 million people. There are many Mexicans here in the Bronx. Many, perhaps at least 100,000. And from what I see on a daily basis, I fear that in opening the borders between Mexico and the U.S. President Bush and his inner circle are sowing the seeds for the destruction of the United States as we have known it and its ultimate (I can't believe I'm writing this, but I believe it) annexation to Mexico.

In none of the Mexican neighborhoods in the Bronx is an American flag anywhere to be found. There are, however, Mexican flags in profusion. Everywhere. And English-speakers are treated with utter contempt by the Mexicans. As if we were the foreigners!!! This is what happens when people get something for nothing.

Mexicans have no loyalty whatsoever to this country. Every single penny of their income goes to their towns in Mexico, which is one of the reasons why they impoverish communities they settle in. They require tremendous amounts of public services and resources, because, for one, they are mostly poor and don't speak English and, for another, and most importantly, they have too many kids! They take and take and take, and offer nothing to the people who are not Mexican in whose midst they live. Nothing.

When the Jews, Italians, Irish, etc., came here, they wanted to Americans and they created institutions and organizations that benefit everyone; in fact, they came here not simply to escape, but to enrich our country. The same cannot be said of Mexicans. I see them as a plague of locusts, devouring everything in their path. But, unfortunately, this is just the beginning of the end. President Fox and his crowd won't be happy until the United States is a northern province of Mexico, or until there are so many Mexicans here (and they can have dual citizenship) that they will be able to tilt our foreign policy so in favor of Mexico that, well, this will be, again, a northern province of Mexico.

What is happening to my country? The most powerful nation on the face of the planet cannot protect its own borders, cannot resist the pressure of the head of state of a third-world country! Mexicans aren't the only people who work in this country. Most of the nation does. And we deserve better! Since when do illegal immigrants have a right to American citizenship? God help us!
