To Forum (L.A. Daily News):

This is about your editorial on immigration.

For years a great number of us throughout the United States have been screaming about the lack of control of legal and illegal immigration. I have lost count of the times I wrote to your paper about this problem, only to be ignored. It was not POLITICALLY CORRECT to even bring up the subject of immigration. Those of us who have been asking for reform and the enforcement of our existing immigration laws have been called racists, xenophobes, white supremacists and many other choice names. It is a disgrace that a tragedy like the one we have just suffered had to happen to wake up people.

You suggest "legalization" (amnesty) for the illegal aliens already here. I disagree. Part of our reform in immigration must be not to reward those who break our laws by sneaking into our country. Deportation, not "legalization", has to be part of our new immigration policy. Amnesties only encourage more illegal immigration.
