Mexican ID's and Orange County Police

Dear Glenn,

Did you read what the immigrant-rights group said? "The result", they said, "is that illegal immigrants were being deported as a result of minor infractions". They should be deported just on the basis of being illegal! They also said, "Once in jail, immigration authorities are allowed to question suspects and check their residency status". Please tell me, does this door only swing one way, in? Is that not supposed to be one of the jobs immigration authorities have?

Here in Germany, whenever the border patrol asks for my papers, I show them. And I don't give it another thought!

I just put my nephew back on a plane to California and will encourage him to go the the rallies in my place. I want to thank you for all the time you put into this cause. Your efforts are much appreciated.

By the way, in one of those opinion polls, the editorial now deems us as "xenophobes". I'm sure that will be a new one for my husband.
