IF GUEST WORKERS ARE NEEDED, WHY MEXICO?

Poland has hundreds of thousands of well educated and hard working people who would be indefinitely grateful for a chance to work temporarily in the U.S. They would obey the law, and support this country in its struggle to make the world a safer place to live, just like Polish government recently did (see [1, 2]).

Poles will not demand free education, free health care, and special favors based on their "minority" status. They will not expect that Americans assimilate to them. They will not demand bi-lingual services, nor will they act as agents of political influence for their government.

I have a really hard time believing that we need a "guest worker" program in the U.S. But if we do, bringing (or legalizing) Mexicans seems like the worst possible choice of all.
