Jacko Under Siege, Illegals Alright, Thank You

By Mark Andrew Dwyer

On November 18, 2003, sixty+ personnel from the Santa Barbara County sheriff's and district attorney's offices had searched Michael Jackson's $12 million mansion on 2,600 acres Neverland Ranch in a criminal investigation that originated from a tip of a therapist that a 12 years old boy, Gavin Arvizo, was sexually molested during his short stay there. Among other evidence, a collection of a dozen of letters, characterized by investigators as "intimate", in which Jackson sent his words of love to the boy, was reportedly seized. Jackson, who in the past paid for Gavin's cancer costly treatment and, according to some sources, bought Arvizo family a car and a house, denied the allegations as absurd but was nevertheless arrested two days later and subsequently released on a $3 million bond.

Prompted by Jackson's extravagant, if not eccentric, lifestyle and a 10 years old molestation charge that had resulted in a 20 million dollar settlement, most of the so-called "mainstream" media jumped on the "King of Pop" as if his guilt was all but pronounced, without much regard to the fact that in this country a person remains innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. Attorney Gloria Allred called "child welfare authorities" to temporarily remove Jackson's three children (two natural and one adopted) from his custody because of the current molestation allegations. The formal charges against Jackson are to be filed shortly after Thanksgiving; if convicted, he may face three to eight years in prison for each count.

Interestingly, no one tried to defend Jackson as the one who just wanted to improve Gavin Arvizo's life. No one brought up an argument how much has Jackson contributed to American economy (he is paying over $120,000 a year in real estate tax alone, never mind millions he has contributed to federal and California tax franchise boards' coffers) nor how have the international sales of his records reduced our foreign trade deficit. No one cried that removing Jackson's kids from his custody would tear apart his family that needs to be re-unified rather than torn apart. No one even came up with the bright idea that to solve child molestation problem once and for all, child molesters should be given an amnesty and the molestation itself should be legalized.

I was impressed with that kind of integrity and uncompromising devotion to the rule of law. After all, we are a nation of laws, aren't we? So, would someone, please, explain it to me why blatant breaking of the U.S. immigration and tax laws by about 10 millions of illegal aliens and mass violations of the American southern border (by thousands illegal entrants a day, on an average) are treated with a snap on a wrist while every single case of child molestation is vigorously prosecuted according to the last letter of law? If Santa Barbara sheriff's and district attorney's zealots have had enough money to commit 60+ people to a boy molestation case, I don't buy their insincere excuses that they don't have enough resources to detain illegal aliens and turn them to the INS should they come across ones. If governors of several states, most notably, Janet Napolitano of Arizona and Bill Richardson of New Mexico, can and do, despite clear constitutional provision that reserves foreign policy issues to the federal authorities, engage in negotiations with Mexican Presidente Fox, their refusal to co-operate with INS on "federal" issue of illegal "immigration" seems like a pure hypocrisy to me.

If Jackson is found guilty by the jury, which still remains to be seen, his punishment should be commensurate with the uncompensated harm to the society, as well as to Gavin Arvizo, that were caused by his allegedly criminal acts. But compared to the irreparable damage the illegal aliens are inflicting to this nation and to billion of dollars of taxpayers' money they consume in "free" public services each year and taxes that they avoid paying, the net effect of his interactions with the boy (remember, Arvizo could have died of cancer by now if it wasn't for Jackson's money) seems like a relatively minor infraction, even if one takes into account that we are comparing actions of one man to the actions of millions. Think of all the diseases, drugs, crime, and rebelliousness the illegal aliens brought with them to America, think of all the kids they molested and physically abused, all the women they raped and the wives they had beaten (if you want to learn about even more heinous crimes committed by illegal aliens, read "AMERICA'S LEAST WANTED" posted here for representative examples), and yet the open border lobby calls them "good people" and vocally protests any serious attempts to enforce the border and the immigration laws. And so are the law enforcement agencies preoccupied with zealously chasing all the alleged child molesters that they have hardly anybody left to make sure that at least those illegal aliens that were caught on breaking the law are turned to federal authorities for deportation proceedings.

The above indicated duplicity of standards seems to have the root cause: greed. Greed of unscrupulous employers who profit from illegal aliens' "cheap" labor. Greed of Left-leaning activists who profit from illegal aliens' rebelliousness and their support of leftist causes. Greed of many elected officials who profit from handsome contributions from both groups. As a result, Jacko, the alleged child molester, is under the siege, but the illegal aliens are doing alright in their conquest of America, thank you.
