City Attorney will fight local enforcement
The city attorney said Monday he will
resist a proposal being considered by the U.S. Justice Department
that would give local and state police the authority to enforce
federal immigration laws. -- Such a policy change would place
a burden on the already overtaxed Los Angeles Police Department
and jeopardize relationships that officers have built with the
city's immigrant communities, said City
