3/1/02 -- Bill Jones has my vote, but the battle is lost, after hearing that all three Republican candidates actually want the Mexican National vote, I have decided that the war is over, the extermination of California as a viable American state is at hand. My child will go to school under the flag of Mexico, my vote will not count, my voice will not be heard, my blood shall boil in vain, because the war for America never took place. --- Bill Clinton was our first Black president, George Bush Jr. is our first Latino president. --- Sad but true, no one cares about the American vote......just the minority vote. --- However you are a true voice of freedom, the Voice of America, keep fighting, though most of your fellow Americans have been lead like sheep...to their own demise.
3/1/02 -- Glenn, Please do not forget how Cardinal Mahoney interfered in the SEIU Local 660 union strike 2 years ago. I am a member and was out picketing when the Cardinal begged the union leadership to call off the strike because it hurts the poor. --- Regardless how you feel about county workers being unionized and having a right to strike, we were backstabbed by our spiritual leader who had no business to interfere. We stood out in the rain, mostly women were with us to ask for a standard wage that would keep us on par with inflation. We lost much ground over the years. Mahoney made us look like fools. Yet he would not let his gravediggers have a union!
3/1/02 -- As it turns out, after the Simon fiasco on the Terry Anderson Show, Jones is the only candidate with any law and order agenda when it comes to immigration. If only he hadn't waffled along the way, if he had come out of the gate strong and sure of himself, demanding deportation and the assignment of the military along the entire length of the Mexican border and to actively re-present 187 to an Appellate Court he would be waltzing away with the nomination. His hesitancy in backing our stance has probably left him without any real chance of capturing the nomination. It is up to him. He must do it. He must champion the cause of ending illegal immigration and implementing Prop. 187. He must do it loud and clear. He must shout it from the rooftops and even from the heavens. In the remaining days he must shout it from Shasta and Yreka to San Diego and Imperial City. Then and only then will he have a chance to turn his candidacy around to a victorious outcome. ---Greg
3/1/02 -- Dear Glenn: Maybe you should tell your Catholic membership to start calling their parishes & tell them they will stop financial contributions if Mahony and the priests don't keep their church out of politics. When it touches their greedy paws, bull--it walks! Catholics are big bleeding hearts. I now am a Christian but not a Catholic! Just a thought! ---Tina
3/1/02 -- Dear Glenn: I think Cardinal Mahony is adding himself to the abominable list of Cardinals the Catholic Church had during the Renaissance. Quite by chance I have been finding out more about him. I am a practicing Catholic but that does not stop me from seeing what this man is all about. He is a big smudge on the Church. As for Simon, I e-mail him every day telling him that if he wants to lower taxes in California, he has to talk about illegal immigration, the biggest financial problem our state faces. Why is it that voters all over the U.S. and specially in California are always between a rock and a hard place? Why is it that we have to go to the polls holding our noses? -- HP
3/1/02 -- Glenn: I received this letter this morning. I have to share this experience with you Glenn. As you may know, I lost everything I owned in Mexico because of the greed and hatred Mexicans have for Americans. EVERYTHING. Just before Christmas last year I was faced with the possibility of living in the street. I was desperate! Someone suggested I call the Catholic Charities and so I did.
A Spanish woman answered the phone and could barely speak English. She informed me she could do nothing to help me. Actually, she was a bit rude and acted as though I was a bother. She just added insult to injury. I then became angry and asked why the Mexicans in America were unwilling to help Americans who were hurt by other Mexicans especially in Mexico. She just said they didn't help people like that. I reminder her of ALL that America and it's citizens do for Mexicans but it fell on deaf ears. She had 'hers' and that was all that mattered.
I hung up and cried more tears for what had happened to me in Mexico and the unfairness of how our government treats Americans while making sure Mexicans have all they need. ESPECIALLY IN CALIFORNIA!
I spoke with Steve Franks from the Simon office in LA last week. I asked him why Mr. Simon couldn't see the relationship between high taxes in California and the immigration problem. Steve said that Simon does see it. I told him I've never read a speech where he clearly states that. Steve said he would find one and email it to me. Of course the email never came.
The Catholic Church and charities harbor illegal immigrants in this country. They are strong supporters of Mexicans here and in Mexico. Perhaps more so than any other church.
I worked for Olan Mills Photography for about 6 months. They take pictures for the church registry across the US. Catholic churches are full of Mexicans who cannot speak English. The families would come to get their pictures taken and we could not even communicate with them. The would purchase their photos with wads of money they pulled from their pockets. And of course, they had lots of children! The new voters to come.
Just thought I'd share my experience with Catholic Charities. ---Debbie

Subject: A Letter from Cindy SimonCindy Simon -- Los Angeles, CA -- March 1, 2002
Dear Fellow Californian: Next Tuesday, March 5th, is a very important day for all of us who live in this special state of California. It is the day we go to the polls to vote in the primary for those candidates we want to represent us in our state government. This past year you have heard and read many different things from many different people about what kind of person my husband Bill Simon is. You have also heard Bill try to express clearly his views on what he stands for, the principles he upholds, and what his beliefs are for our future. Now, I would like to share with you a little bit about the Bill Simon I know. Bill is a wonderful husband and father. Together we have raised four incredible children, which in today's environment is indeed a challenge. Bill has always been there for them, and his family is his very first priority. That was one of our strongest concerns when people first approached Bill to encourage him to run for Governor of California - what impact would it have on our family and how would it affect our children? After many long and thoughtful discussions, we decided as a family that the opportunity to run for Governor far outweighed whatever sacrifices our family would confront. Today we continue to feel very comfortable with that decision. Bill has been so devastated by the poor leadership coming out of Sacramento and the impact it has had on California families, that he felt he had no alternative than to do something about it. There is no other time in our state's history that the need for a proven, strong, intelligent and caring leader has been greater. I feel my husband Bill Simon is the finest person to take on this challenge. Throughout his life, Bill has spent a significant part of his time and energy giving back to the community. He has always felt it a great privilege to be able to contribute where and when there is a need. As Vice Chairman of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, from working with homeless and at-risk youth as Chairman of Covenant House of California, in supporting children's health through the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, and by building strong character through physical education with our foundation's "Sound Body Sound Mind" program, Bill has demonstrated time and again that he cares about the community at large. Bill has helped create private solutions to public problems. As governor, he will continue to work night and day to solve the many problems facing our great state of California. It is with a strong conviction that I feel Bill Simon is the right person who can and will fight for the betterment of ALL of California's families. I know that Bill will be a great leader of California, and I urge you to vote for him on Tuesday, March 5th. ---Cindy Simon
