Subject: No to foreign-based id cardsCalifornia has a serious problem with illegal immigration, and the local government will not uphold federal immigration laws. The city of Anaheim and the local police department are now accepting a foreign ID, an ID issued by Mexico, in lieu of a California driver's license, during traffic stops. The Anaheim police department will check with the Mexican Consulate to verify ID, rather than their own state agencies. There is something seriously wrong with this picture. They should not be driving in California without a California driver's license, and if the reason they can't obtain one (legally) is because they are in this country illegally, there is a serious problem. As a U.S. citizen, I have to have a driver's license to drive in California, or anywhere else in the Union for that matter. If my social security number doesn't match what the DMV typed into their computer, I have to prove that I am who I say I am. I have to take time out of my day to straighten out the mess created when a DMV employee mistypes my social security number. And yet, if you are a citizen of Mexico living illegally in California, you don't need a driver's license. All you need is a foreign-issued ID card. Quite frankly, it makes no sense to be a U.S. citizen anymore, because there are more privileges for someone who is not a U.S. citizen (yes, even voting because in California, you do not have to prove who you are when you vote). It is irritating to be treated as second-class in my own country and cannot even renew my drivers license because of a typo, and yet observe that someone who is in this country illegally doesn't even need a driver's license to drive here.
We do not support what the city of Anaheim nor the state of California is doing. We support a law banning the acceptance of foreign-issued identification cards.

12/15/01Dear Congressman Tancredo,
Thank goodness some Americans still have seats in the House of Representatives. I'm jealous that you're a Coloradan and not a Californian.
Glenn Spencer, of American Patrol, recently sent you a video tape of the attack by Mexican Marxists on a gathering of American citizens attempting to convince the Anaheim, CA, City Council, and anyone else who would listen, to reject the notion of a bunch of Orange County, CA, police chiefs who don't want to be bothered, to accept identification cards from Mexican nationals, who are here illegally and lawlessly, issued by Mexican Consulate offices as legitimate US identification.
I hope you will, first of all, share this video with your growing coalition. Then appeal to the House of Representatives to help put an end to this politically motivated urge, especially from our president, to give the territory acquired through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo back to the people from whom we bought it.
To watch my homeland taken away from me with the assistance of the President of the United State, the Governor of the State of California, and frightened senators and congressmen simply drives me mad.
I for one, do not intend to give my homeland away, despite what a bunch of Cholos desire. If necessary, I will exercise my rights under the Second Amendment and defend my nation, as a member of a well-regulated militia.
Americans lustful to hold on to the positions in government they have been successful in padding and paying themselves and escalating to lucrative lifelong sinecures must be convinced that the preservation of the republic transcends their private ambitions. I look to the few honest elected officials left who hold America before their personal selfishness to fight the exhausting battle on the floor you have demonstrated. It must be frustrating, good Sir, but keep your strength, resolve, and willingness to remind your colleagues that they must not abandon their pledge to be Americans, first.
Bless you,
Jack

12/14/01Dear Congressman Tancredo:
I attended the December 8 American Patrol/California Coalition for Immigration Reform rally in Anaheim, California. I witnessed counterdemonstrators attacking people - any who fought back did so to protect themselves.
I also attended the two Anaheim City Council meetings on December 4 and December 12 and was one of those protesting their acceptance of Mexican ID cards. The councilmembers were unmoved. I believe they fear the savagery of illegal alien advocates.
San Francisco has already declared - as a city - acceptance of Mexican ID cards.San Francisco previously declared itself a "sanctuary city". What is next? All illegal aliens from every country can demand the same thing from their governments.
Please author a bill to reject any consular ID cards from all foreign governments for their nationals residing unlawfully in the United States. The only thing I anticipate is that your Republican colleagues will be afraid to co-sponsor it for fear of the dreaded "R" label as they have done many times on immigration reform legislation.

12/14/01Dear Mr. Tancredo,
The idea that certain municipalities in California and many banking institutions are accepting ID's issued to illegal aliens by the most corrupt government in the hemisphere is utterly appalling.... if not treasonous. The Mexican government is openly committing felonies every day by aiding and abetting an invasion by it's millions of nationals, and nothing is being done about it. This is also an outrage.
Please do your best to pass laws banning the acceptance of foreign documents in the United States, and to eject Mexican government officials who openly encourage lawbreaking by their errant citizens. Thank you.
Respectfully,
Jay N.
P.S. - Do you have plans for running for higher office in 2004? I sure hope so.
