Mexican population booming
People of Mexican ancestry flocked to the San
Fernando Valley during the 1990s at a rate seven times higher
than the rest of the city in pursuit of better education, housing,
jobs and their ancestral roots, new U.S Census Bureau data show.
While the rest of Los Angeles' Mexican population
grew less than 3 percent during the decade, the Valley's grew
by more than 57 percent to just over 370,000 people of Mexican
