VCT's Spencer is interviewed by Times reporter
Thursday, April 9, 1998 -- (VCT) Sam Verhovek, a New York Times reporter, called Glenn Spencer of Voice of Citizens Together to ask about his views on dual citizenship. Spencer told Verhovek that Mexico's move toward dual citizenship was different from any other nation because it had a historic claim on parts of the United States and Mexican nationals think of themselves as Mexicans, not Americans.
Spencer told Verhovek about VCT's three-year fight against dual citizenship which began in earnest with a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Daily News on May 14, 1995.
Verhovek asked Spencer to fax him material on the subject.
Spencer faxed the following to the New York Times:
NOW LET'S SEE WHAT THE NEW YORK TIMES DOES WITH THIS MATERIAL!
WILL THEY SWEEP IT UNDER THE RUG LIKE ALL THE OTHER NEWSPAPERS HAVE DONE?
STAY TUNED!
