Citizens complain, offending flag comes down, Tina tosses tantrum
Here's the tantrum: So, we run a photo Tuesday of North High School freshmen in a classroom against the backdrop of an American and Mexican flag hanging side-by-side and this is what happens. -- So- called adults, foul- mouthed and self- righteous, call the school and threaten to enter a building full of kids and rip down the Mexican flags if the administration doesn't. They say: "This is America, not Mexico." [And they're right.]

Defiant officials to re-hang widely reviled 'buzzard flags'
Denver -- School officials here said yesterday they plan to replace two Mexican flags removed from a local high school this week after a public outcry about the issue dies down. -- School staffers at North High School took down the Mexican flags on Tuesday after receiving threats from callers who said they would come to the school and tear down the flags themselves.

Flag flap has DPS racing to get everyone back in fold
Guidelines for flag displays in Denver Public Schools are going out to principals after a Mexican flag display at North High School sparked controversy. -- The guidelines, which are still in draft form, essentially say flags of other countries may be displayed if they are related to classroom instruction and if their display is temporary, said DPS Superintendent Jerry Wartgow. They do have a photo on their home page of what looks to be an aspiring gang-banger. Here is the address and phone number of this school:

Dear Ms. Griego:You missed one important detail. According to the code that regulates flag displaying in the U.S., no flag of any other country can be hung at the same level as the American flag, except for palaces like U.N., but then the American flag must be displayed in the rightmost position.
On the picture in your previous article, Mexican flag was displayed not only on the same level as the American flag, but also to the right of it. (So, it's a double violation of the code.) And yes, this is a serious offense. Like it or not, our national identity does depend on how we treat our flag. This identity will become fragile if we allow other nations to put their flags above or on par with ours.
Many young Americans gave their lives just to stop our enemies from taking the American flag down or from waving an alien flag above it. Displaying Mexican flag in the way it was displayed on that picture is like disrespecting graves of these Americans. You may argue that it's just a symbol. I feel offended when someone does it.
Sincerely, Dr. M. S. -- 8/18/04
8/18/04 -- Not posted yet on Rockymountainnews.com, Tina Griego (idiot) column, but on the radio talkshow today the follow-up to the Griego column that Mexican flags are flying in Denver's North High School. Apparently, this paint-chip eating columnist today notes that yesterday bad Americans called the school and threatened to tear down the Mexican flag, so the LATINA Principal took ALL flags down cuz if the Green and Orange cannot fly, the Red White and Blue will not either!Griego, too, is now writing as if the Mexie flag was only flying in one room.
8/18/04 -- "Reconquista" RMN reporter Tina Griego and two North High teachers did an "in the grinogos' faces" move with their photo of the Mexican flag in a Denver classroom. After a flood of angry phone calls, letters, e-mails and faxes forced the principal to remove the offending flag, Griego, two teachers and the principal insist they "didn't mean any disrespect." They all "love America," and "would never do anything to harm America."What part of whining and sniveling do these people think we don't understand? -- Sandy M.
