9/22/02 -- Dear Editor, I cannot believe it. Yet another Denver Post columnist is attacking Congressman Tom Tancredo. You are proving you have an incredibly deep bench of southpaws who love to throw beanballs and spitters. The unforgivable sin committed by conservative Congressman Tom Tancredo is that he defends citizenship, sovereignty and the immigration laws of this country. It seems everyone is against Tancredo except the people, as evidenced by your recent public opinion poll showing that eighty-one percent of your readers have a very favorable to somewhat favorable opinion about him. Sincerely, Larry B. Riverside, CA

9/21/02 -- Hello,

David W. Caulkett, an immigration reductionist, writes:

Immigration reductionists are having a big battle with one of the most biased, lamest newspapers that I have encountered in a long time. The Denver Post is hammering away at Rep Tom Tancredo who is a strong immigration reduction advocate and chairman of the House Immigration Reform Caucus. Most recently the brave Congressman advocated enforcement of US immigration laws by deportation of an illegal alien who publicly advocated that US taxpayers should subsidize college for illegal aliens. The highly visible newspaper article and ensuing controversy was heavily promoted by the Denver Post. The issue is not really the illegal alien, but the fact that there are now between 9-13 MILLION illegal aliens in the US and whether the public will continue to tolerate this uncontrolled situation or whether they will demand enforcement. The Denver Post is totally biased, and rarely presents the negative impacts of mass immigration. The Denver Post almost always calls illegal aliens "undocumented" which is just politically correct nonsense. The Denver Post is now trying to smear the Congressman because his home improvement contractor hired employed illegal aliens who had fraudulent documents.

Roy Beck from NumbersUSA writes:

The headlines tends to be the worst in all of this. Next problem tends to be the lead paragraphs. But there are all kinds of objectionable arguments that you will find.

Of course, the editorials are the worst. The Post editorial writers really want us to believe that Tancredo is the equivalent of public figures who hire illegal aliens as nannies. Please read carefully. Tancredo DID NOT HIRE ANY ILLEGAL ALIENS. Rather, he hired a company. It is the responsibility of businesses to ensure that their employees are legal. This business did just that under current law. Unfortunately, as is so often true, it now turns out that several of the workers used false documents. You can't fault the company or Tancredo. You fault the system that Tancredo is trying to fix with the SAFER Act (H.R. 5013) which would have the Social Security administration very quickly verify whether or not workers are using somebody else's or non-existent SS numbers.

If the open-border advocates and the Denver media succeed in marginalizing Tancredo, they will have succeeded in setting back our whole movement several years.

The Denver Post during the last three years has repeatedly done editorials about the benefits of illegal immigration. This week it has started an old-style newspaper vendetta against him, using both its editorial and its news staffs to go after him in one Page One spread after another.

Mr. Moore:

I want to thank you for your recent attempts to further educate your readers about the illegal immigration problem. Now we know (as if we didn't already) how difficult it is to hire any work to be done without finding illegal aliens amongst the work crew. The fact of the matter is, as you and your bleeding-heart, ultra-liberal newspaper have helped show, they have invaded every area of labor across the entire nation. Their overwhelming numbers in our schools have severely degraded the quality of education for our own kids but I doubt that you want to touch that subject.

Our health care system has reached a dangerous low, adversely affecting all of our citizens, especially the elderly, as a result of the millions of illegals receiving free health care, which we ultimately pay for.

Thank you for showing us that we have at least one leader, Congressman Tom Tancredo, who really cares about restoring the concept of America being a sovereign nation, a nation that refuses to allow foreign intervention to dictate our policies.

Why don't you care? You and I both know that Tom Tancredo didn't hire any illegals; he hired a reputable company that, because of the absence of any serious enforcement of our laws, appears to have a number of workers on its force that used fraudulent documentation to be hired. This use of such documentation is wide-spread across the nation and is one of many problems that Tancredo's proposed legislation would correct.

As to the deportation of Jesus Apodaca and his family: He is here illegally. His grade-point average does not change that fact. I have little doubt that he is a good kid and comes from a good family. Should we deport only those people who do poorly in school, who don't attend church, who get speeding tickets or maybe even are caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart? Just what is your formula for deciding who stays and who goes? Perhaps you would advocate just forgetting about returning to their country of origin ANY of the millions of people who are residing here unlawfully.

Perhaps you might even advocate simply opening our borders to the entire world, so that every person who wished to better his life, from every country on the globe, could come to share our 'American dream'. Or should we take a close look at the more than 12 million people who are already in this country illegally, most of whom mean us no harm, but are never-the-less thumbing their noses at our laws and making a mockery of any concept of America being a sovereign nation? That close look would certainly help us decide, first, what is best for America, then what is best for us to do about the rest of the world. That is exactly what Tom Tancredo is attempting to get the citizens of this great country to do and I applaud him for his efforts.

R.H.

A former State Narcotics Agent/Pilot now living 30 miles north of our totally out-of-control border. P.S. I also want to thank you for conducting the poll that shows that 91% of the 14,177 respondents favor Congressman Tancredo and his goals. Keep up the good work!

Below is our letter to the columnist:

Dear Bob E:

Call us prejudiced, but we would no more give serious consideration to the written words of someone wearing what appears to be about 70 pounds of very bad table manners than we would a drug crazed psychotic. Both are stoned beyond coherence. Take you fat fingers off the computer keys, you big fat slob, and walk to the gym where you might get some inspiration to write something that you can back up if you're every called out to defend yourself, you disgusting oinker!

9/21/02 -- At the center of the Tancredo buzz is the Mexican government that is working through their consuls in the United States to discredit any person that speaks out against legal Immigration. Their strategy is to use their racist minions such as LA RAZA, LULAC, MECHA ,etc to attack and label any criticism or opposition as racist. The Mexican Government encourages Illegal Immigration as it results in billions of dollars flowing into Mexico via the families of Illegal Aliens working in the United States. Vicente Fox has established a cabinet position to manipulate Illegal Aliens in the United States and assure they illegally obtain taxpayer supported welfare benefits. Mexican agents such as Candido Morales are working to assure Illegal Aliens receive welfare subsidies to assure maximum flow of Illegal Alien wages to Mexico. They are complicit in many areas of Illegal Alien life including drivers licenses, free medical benefits, free schooling, free welfare benefits, free college education, subsidized housing, etc, etc, etc. The Mexican minions such as LA RAZA (the race) also like to contact the media, Latino Caucus, etc and regale them with half truths such as the testimony of the Tancredo drywallers who signed forms declaring they were not Illegal and then switched their stories. Mexico is a corrupt country that constantly ignores American sovereignty, cheats American taxpayers and newspapers such as yours continually champion them and their spawn. What about the rule of law ? Mr. Tancredo is doing what he was elected to do. Protect the country from invasion and uphold the law.
