1. INFO----2 new co-sponsors of H.R. 5013 (Gekas reduction bill)
================================================================These are the two that we had not previously reported to you:
John Peterson (R-PA)
Bob Riley (R-AL)
Always good to get another Northeastern Republican in the mix (with Peterson). And Riley is the first Member from Alabama to step forward. Both of them arrived in 1997, so weren't here for the multiple votes and actions in 1996. But they have been reliable in fighting illegal immigration.
What is great about this signing is that this is the first time Peterson or Riley has stepped out to take a positive action toward reducing legal immigration numbers. They have never co-sponsored immigration reduction before. If we are to win, these are the kind of folks we must have.

2. INFO----the full list of co-sponsors
=======================================Always look for faxes on http://www.NumbersUSA.com to thank these folks.
If you don't see anybody from your state in this list, please work on these people while they are back home over the August break.
23 TOTAL SIGNERS OF H.R. 5013 (that would eliminate chain migration and the visa lottery, and greatly strengthen enforcement against illegal immigration)

3. INFO----What's happening on Homeland Security bill and our issues
=============================================================It is pretty certain that the Senate will leave town this week without voting on the bill. We continue to have faxes up for many of you to send to your U.S. Senators opposing the provisions added to the bill by Sen. Kennedy that would likely greatly increase the level of immigration over current elevated levels.
Our lobbying team has had some very high-echelon meetings this week to try to find ways to strip these offensive provisions before any bill gets sent to the President. All of this will be on the table after Labor Day.
