"I never thought this would have a divisive effect," said teachers' union president George Triplett. "The intent was not to exclude somebody from the school system. It's designed to get more funds so we can do a better job for the entire school district."
While the district enrollment of 28,533 is about half Hispanic, its leadership, from the the school board to its Crescent Way headquarters and to the principals' offices, remains mostly white.
....he plans to meet with Anaheim school officials over a proposal to bill foreign countries for the cost of educating illegal immigrants.

Once again the Orange County (California) Register gives evidence that we live in a new Dark Age characterized by intellectual stagnation and unsupported bigotry. In an August 24 editorial, "Anaheim schools open sore subject," the Register makes a nutty argument for "open immigration."
The plan calls for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service to count the number of illegal immigrant students in each school and determine their countries of origin--something that INS officials say they would not do.........
