Re: Davis in Mexico to Meet With Fox, Boost Trade and Tourism
L.A. Times - 12/3/0112/03/01
"There is no more important relationship for California than the relationship with Mexico" The despotic Gobernador de California says. Wow, that's amazing! The rest of the United States is of course, chopped liver, and out here in Alta California the deaths of 4000 gringos in Nueva York is no big deal. Especially to Mexico, which overwhelmingly said we had it coming, and smiled with satisfaction as tears flowed on the East Coast.
But what's really amazing is the notion that going to Mexico will bring dollars and jobs to California! That's funny. I always thought it was the other way around.
The Mexican foreign minister admits that Mexico doesn't even have enought money to pave new roads or build new bridges (that's because all the Mexican Billionaires are busy sending the money to Switzerland), and he and El Presidente Fox spend most of their time trying to get the US to legitimize their citizens here, so as to chisel a few more dollars out of us. So, what "economic benefits" will accrue to California by having more Mexicans come here? They haven't got any money. They come here for that.
And while we're on the subject of laughable statements, note the signing of an agreement for "scientific exchanges"! The phrase "Mexican Science" is oxymoronic if not downright ridiculous.
Gosh, I didn't know the LA Times was a comedy rag! And that Davis was their straight man. Too bad the outcome of their comedy act is so grim, and not funny.
