We Get E-Mail

4/5/03 -- Our Attorney General is being petitioned, by a group out of Tucson called the Border Alliance Group, to investigate the 'Vigilante' groups now attempting to assist in the stemming of the flow of illegal immigration. The following is a letter I just got off to him. -- Richard

Dear [Arizona] Attorney General Terry Goddard:

I think an investigation of these border militia groups down here in Cochise County is an excellent idea. After all, through our freshman Congressman Raul Grijalva, we know that these groups are made up of cockroaches and are really 'hate' groups. (Whatever that might mean.) What an embarrassment to the state of Arizona 'Raul' has turned out to be! (His given name at birth was Ralph, not Raul.) Just not 'Mexican' enough for him, I guess.

After learning that Grijalva had asked our U.S. Attorney General, John Ashcroft, to conduct such an investigation, I faxed Mr. Ashcroft, asking him to initiate his investigation with me. I explained that I was on the board of directors of the American Border Patrol and I would be glad to arrange for him to accompany me on one of our fact-finding missions, so that he could see, first hand, just what laws we were breaking.

I now make that same offer to you.

It would seem that this Border Alliance Network could make much better use of their time and resources by seeing what they could do to stem the flow of illegal immigration, rather than encourage and assist it.

I am a graduate of the Phoenix Police Academy, was a Scottsdale City Policeman, a State Liquor Control Agent and ended my law enforcement career as an undercover Narcotics Agent/Pilot for the Arizona Dept. of Public Safety. I have the utmost respect for our laws; I just want to see them enforced.
