FBP takes San Diego's Fox-6 out to observe the border...
Last week after a few days to assess operational concerns, Friends of the Border Patrol resumed observation operations along the California border with Mexico.
FBP Chairman Andy Ramirez invited San Diego's Fox-6 to join us for an overnight observation. We were joined by Mr. Jim Patton, Fox-6 reporter, and a photographer to record the evening, Wednesday, September 28, 2005.
FBP posted an observation team at an undisclosed location along the California border with Mexico. During the evening, we had a group of illegal aliens pass through our observation area at about 0300 hours. The same group that my observation team noted was later picked up by another group of FBP observers at 0430 hours.
The USBP was called by both observation teams and both times USBP agents responded in mere minutes to the scene.
While indeed a slow night at this particular stretch of about 400 yards, groups of smugglers who are bringing trafficking in humans, and narcotics cross the border along 3977 miles, most of which is unmanned due to the shell game being played by Washington, DC in detailing agents around constantly. The Border Patrol is undermanned, and being overwhelmed in sheer numbers, especially with the Bush Administration being unwilling to conduct interior enforcement operations or enact sanctions, let alone investigate those businesses who employ illegal aliens.
