Who Are You Calling "Illegal"?
....So here we are on page A8 of last Sunday's Newsday. Headline: EVENT SLAMS "ILLEGAL ALIENS." Note those quotation marks. If you read no further than the headline, you would presume that some event had been held - a public meeting, you could hardly help but infer, since there is an accompanying picture of a speaker on a podium - at which some group of people had been wrongly identified as illegal aliens; had been, in headline jargon, slammed as "illegal aliens." Who was this group, so unfairly characterized as "illegal aliens"? Well, it was ... illegal aliens. The event, held at a local VFW post, was organized by a local citizens group fed up with the presence of hundreds of Mexican day laborers in the town of Farmingville. Guest speaker was Glenn Spencer of the California-based "Voices of Citizens Together," a noisy but entirely respectable group that lobbies against illegal immigration.

Day-Laborer[Illegal Immigration] Issues Prompt Opposing RalliesGlenn Spencer, president of Voice of Citizens Together, a California group that pushes for immigration reform, is scheduled to speak at a meeting today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at V.F.W. Post 4927 in Centereach. A woman tending the bar there yesterday said the post did not condone the speaker's views. "We didn't know what it was going to be, and we're kind of stuck with it because we have a contract," said the bartender, who would not give her name.

Suffolk Residents Protest Illegal
Immigrants[Aliens] and Day LaborersWaving American flags and red, white and blue balloons, 200 Suffolk County residents opposed to illegal immigrants and day laborers in their communities held a boisterous town hall meeting in Centereach, N.Y., yesterday and called for tougher enforcement of immigration laws. "We can either roll over and play dead, or take our flag and walk with it," said Margaret Bianculli, the president of the Sachem Quality of Life Organization, which sponsored the gathering. "This is not a drill to us. This is the real thing." The featured speaker was Glenn Spencer the president of VCT, a California group that advocates immigration law changes, and the host of a weekly radio show called "American Patrol Report."

Arrogant criminals flout U.S. Law in New York, American activist arrested
Suffolk County police arrested the outspoken leader of a group critical of the mainly
undocumented day laborers[illegals] who gather on Horse Block Road in Farmingville. But the trespassing charges against Margaret Bianculli-Dyber, head of the Sachem Quality of Life Organization, did not disrupt the rally, where speakers included everyone from politicians, civil- rights activists and priests to immigrants from Kosovo and Latin America and a survivor of the Holocaust. Breaking into bilingual chants of Gananemos la lucha! -- Spanish for "We will win the struggle!" -- and "The people united will never be defeated," the crowd cheered as a dozen speakers vowed that Long Islanders will not tolerate bigotry.Farmingville: a town under siege
--Announcement from Sachem Quality of Life Organization--
(Includes other actions on October 15th involving illegal aliens and local politicians, etc.)The American Patrol Report will be broadcast live from Suffolk County, L.I. on Sunday, October 15.
