Friends:

We are going to Maine to join our friends in Maine who will be protesting at Senator Collins' office in Lewiston, ME.

You are well aware that Senator Collins is the chairperson of the U.S. Senate Conferees on the proposed new office of intelligence director, and she tried to bludgeon the House into removing the very fine immigration provisions from the House bill, H.R. 10.

Fortunately, through some maneuvering by Tom Tancredo, and the steadfastness of House Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner and House Armed Services Chairman Duncan Hunter, a stalemate resulted and there was no action taken before they recessed. That was good! They will be back in Washington, D.C. December 7 to take it up again.

In the meantime, the MAINERS have scheduled this protest, which will take place Wednesday December 1, 2004 at 11:00 am at::

Senator Collins' Office
11 Lisbon Street
Lewiston, ME 04204

I will send directions to anyone interested in going; I am driving up to Ken Roy's home Tuesday afternoon to stay overnight. He has a farm and has invited anyone who wants to get involved to come along.

For all those who cannot make it, you can help with a little PILING ON.

Instead of going to the snack bar on your break for another pack of TWINKIES, stay at your desk and phone Senator Collins' office and give her your views on her obstructionist role in these debates. Also, you can call the local paper and point them in the direction of this protest.
